Release Notes May 2026 - Task Steps

If you need to capture maintenance, installation, preparation or reassembly steps as part of any calibration test specification, you can add Task Steps. 

Task Step Setup

Each Task Step can have

  • A 255-character step description
  • An optional numeric reading in a Unit of your choice
  • A "required" setting which forces the user to select an outcome other than "Incomplete" before the Calibration Result record can even be saved.

Task Steps can be separated into Before, During, and After groups.

Managing Steps

  1. Use Add Step to edit the step text, and set up fields for Capturing a numeric reading or making the step required.
  2. Click Add Step on the step sub dialog to save it.
  3. On any step you can 
    1. Click and Drag to move the step around

    2. Click the Edit icon to Edit the Step
    3. Click the Copy icon to Duplicate the Step
    4. Click the Trash can icon to Delete the Step

Managing Multiple Steps

Use the Import function to quickly create basic, non-reading-capture, non-required text steps.

Import Steps will create whatever steps you pasted or typed into the multi-line edit box.

 

Use the Copy Steps to Clipboard function to copy the text of your current set of steps in either Before, During or After sections which may help in duplicating them to other Assets or external documentation:

Task Rules

  • Fail if Step Skipped: Applies As Found AND As Left failure outcome to this test specification if any step is specifically "Skipped"
  • Fail if Step Failed: Applies As Found AND As Left failure outcome to this test specification if any step is specifically "Failed"

Result Entry

When the user is entering Calibration Test Activity with any Task Steps, these will appear below the measurement area.

  1. The "TASK STEPS" heading is collapsible to hide the content temporarily from the view.
  2. Each step has a Results dropdown
    1. Incomplete: The default state of having no entry yet for a given step
    2. Completed: Completed the step successfully
    3. Skipped: Could not complete the step for whatever reason
    4. Failed: Some unacceptable condition was 
  3. Each Step also allows a 255 character Remark .

FAQ

Which Test Specification Types can use Task Steps?

Any type! You may have steps applicable to your Manual testing, or even your Switch or Test Point Accuracy testing.

 

Will this data appear on my reports?

As of initial release this data is going to be on your worksheet and calibration certificate reports if present on the asset or result respectively. If there are formatting concerns please contact support or your account representative!

 

Will these steps download to my Fluke calibrator?

Coming soon! This will only be compatible with Fluke 753 and 754.
