Cloning Assets

The ProCalX Clone Asset feature is useful when multiple assets share common characteristics, such as the same manufacturer, model, calibration requirements, or specification details. Instead of creating each asset individually, users can clone an existing asset and then update the fields that are unique to the new asset.

When a clone is created, ProCalX generates a new asset record that can be modified independently of the original asset. Changes made to the cloned asset do not affect the source asset.

To clone an asset you will locate the asset you want to use as a template, right click to open your options, and select 'Clone Asset'.

This will open a window where you can specify the new asset ID, name, and serial number.  You also have an opportunity to keep the existing next calibration date or update it accordingly.

After the asset has been cloned you will see that the record copied the general details of the asset along with any test specifications, resources, or contacts.  Any existing file attachments will not be copied as part of this operation.
