To add an Instrument you need to navigate to the Assets page.  

  • Upon selecting the Assets option you will see either a message indicating you need to click the Add New button or a list of previously entered Assets
  • By clicking the Add New button, you will get the option of Instruments or Test Standards.
  • Selecting the Instrument option you will be directed to the Add New Instrument screen

  • The only required field on the Add New Instrument screen is the Instrument ID field.
    • The Instrument ID field is automatically capitalized and can be a maximum of 100 characters
    • It can consist of letters, numbers and special characters.
    • The Instrument ID must be unique.

  • The rest of the fields are not required, but are highly recommended.
  • The next field is the Description field that is 255 characters and used to better describe the Instrument.

  • The next three (3) fields are identifiers that can be found on the actual Instrument
    • Manufacturer
    • Model
    • Serial Number

  • Calibration Due Date can be populated by typing the specific day in or using the Calendar Widget and selecting the day the Instrument is due for calibration.
    • The date format used is mm/dd/yyyy
      • EXAMPLE: 07/27/2018
      • Below is an example of the Calendar Widget.

  • Once the date has been manually entered or selected using the Calendar Widget, the date will appear as seen below.

  • Calibration Frequency is a predefined set of frequencies that can be assigned to the Instrument and will be used when rolling the date forward on the completion of a calibration result.
    • Daily - Will roll the date forward one (1) day.
    • Weekly - Will roll the date forward seven (7) days.
    • Monthly - Will roll the date forward one (1) month.
    • Quarterly - Will roll the date forward three (3) months.
    • Semi-Annually - Will roll the date forward six (6) months.
    • Annually - Will roll the date forward one (1) year. 
  • Assigning Locations and Sub-Locations (See LOCATIONS for Adding Locations).
    • By selecting the drop down you can assign just a Location or a Location with a Sub-Location; to assign the additional Sub-Location you must expand the Location area by clicking the arrow, which opens the associated Sub-Locations.
  • The Comment area is a 5000 character limit text field.
    • You can expand or contact the Comment field by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner.

  • For Instruments only there is an additional area titled Test Specifications that allows you to enter instrument details that would be needed at the time of calibration.
    • Test Description
    • Range - Low Range and High Range, these are just a label identifying what the range of the instrument is, no calculations are done regarding this range.
    • Unit - Drop down of pre-configured units of measure.
    • Tolerance - A percentage based number.

  • Once you deem all the information to be complete and done, you will need to Save the Instrument.  Important to note that ALL of the fields are able to be edited after saving.  (See EDITING ASSETS)
    • The Save button will save the Instrument and direct you back to the list of Assets, with a confirmation message stating the Instrument was successfully added, you will also see the Instrument in the list of Assets.
    • The Save & New button will save the Instrument but will keep you on the Add New Instrument screen and will clear all the previously entered data out, clearing a clean slate to enter another Instrument.  You will also see a confirmation message stating the Instrument was successfully added.
  • The Cancel button will direct you back to the Assets screen.
